Frequently asked questions.

What sets ABIS apart from other companies?

The owner, Shane Sanders, oversees projects from start to finish and is known for communicating with clients in a timely, professional, and efficient manner. From the bid to the final job walk, you’ll have the owner’s attention and involvement in the project.

How do you prevent fences from rotting?

We wrap each post with a post saver wrap at the base to prevent ground-line rot, decay, fungi, and moisture.

What is a post saver wrap?

Ground-line rot, decay, fungi, and moisture are the biggest contributors to wood post failures and are found within the first 6-in to 8-in of earth surrounding in-ground posts. Post saver fence post protector sleeves provide a locked-in air and moisture barrier and rot block protection for new wooden posts before installation. Installing this product on your posts will save you the cost of replacing your posts every few years.

How do you make sure posts are sturdy during wind storms?

We use a minimum of two bags of concrete per post to ensure they’re structurally sound and set posts two feet below ground.

What type of fence installation do you specialize in?

We specialize in cedar fences. There are many styles of cedar fences to choose from. We’ll work together to find a style that fits your taste and your budget.

What do you do to ensure you don’t hit pipes under the ground?

Before your project begins, we will contact the 811 utility locator for your peace of mind and our team’s safety.

What’s your average lead time?

Depending on the season, we’re able to begin your project within 2 and 4 weeks of confirmation.

What do you do to prevent rust in the fence caused by the nails?

We use galvanized ring shank nails on every project to ensure the nails stand the test of time.

What type of hardware do you use on gates?

We use heavy-duty black powder-coated hardware, where the latch opens from both sides and is lockable.

Do you use the post-on-pipe method?

We aren’t advocates for the post-on-pipe method for many reasons. Although you can remove the post from the pipe if it rots (a reason some fence companies opt for this method), by the time the post rots, you’ll likely need more than just the post removed. The post saver wraps that we use are just as effective and more economical than the post-on-pipe method. In addition, the post-on-pipe method is more prone to causing splitting in the posts due to the circumference of the pipe inside the post.

What is the cost per foot?

It depends greatly on the cost of materials, the size, and your needs. After we take a look at your project, we’ll be able to provide you with a detailed estimate.

How do you attach the 2”x4” rails to the post?

We use electro-galvanized Simpson brackets which provide a high-quality connection and allow for expansion and contraction of the rails without splitting.

What style of fences can you build?

Estate style (our most popular), modified panel, cedar split rail, basic economy fence (flat face), and various styles of modern horizontal. If you don’t see a style listed here that you’re interested in, give us a call.

What kind of gates can you build?

We can build any type of pedestrian gate or large double swinging gates.

Can you remove my old fence?

We do offer demolition and disposal of your previous fence for a small additional fee.
